Let Us Help Get Your Child Ready to Thrive in Kindergarten

By Amanda Caraway, Community Engagement Manager |

The year before kindergarten is a unique and important time in a child’s life. Attending a high-quality pre-k program is key to helping children succeed. And, Head Start data shows that family involvement in pre-kindergarten helps children have better social skills, higher academic performance in math and language literacy, and higher achievement through to high school.

To prepare children and their families, all our teams work together to ensure all needs are met. Our Education Team helps parents and kids understand the classroom expectations for kindergarten and gives them resources to help with the transition. They implement a research-based curriculum that helps kids succeed by learning social and emotional skills, math, and language literacy.

To help children get a head start on their reading, we invite Smart Reading and community volunteers into the classroom and read with children. We work closely with Clackamas Education Services District (ESD) to support children with developmental delays and diagnosed disabilities to provide individualized activities and support.

All of our Early Learning Centers have carefully crafted outdoor spaces that are built to support the physical development of children. We also have outdoor activities that encourage the children to learn by engaging with the world and materials around them.

Our Health Services Team ensures all children in our programs have all the physical exams, immunizations, and records required to make the transition smoother. And, our Nutrition Team makes sure children have healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks to ensure the children are strong and capable of learning.

We also collaborate with various partners to round out the services we provide including WIC and KidoKinetics. Through these partnerships, we can develop curriculum and programs to promote gross motor skills through play as well as support nutrition and health growth rates.

ClackCoKids is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 program. If you have a child who will transition to kindergarten in one year, we encourage you to apply. If you know a family with pre-k children, refer them here. If you prefer to start your application over the phone or if you have any questions, you can always reach out to us at 503-675-4565 or email our team at connect@clackcokids.org.
