ClackCoKids Partners with PDX Diaper Bank

By Natalie Hornstein; CCCC Community Connections Specialist |

Over the last several years, the PDX Diaper Bank and ClackCoKids have partnered to provide families enrolled in our programs with much needed diapers and wipes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the PDX Diaper Bank reached out to ClackCoKids for help distributing diapers to the Clackamas County community at large. Each week, Early Head Start and Healthy Families family service staff would put together packages of diapers and wipes requested by parents in the community, as well as from our own programs, and place them in boxes for pick-up at our Madison location. In 2020 our staff distributed 471 packages of diapers to families across Clackamas County, for a total of over 27,000 diapers, with wipes provided as well when supplies were available.

Through this collaboration in the face of a community emergency, the PDX Diaper Bank recognized the significant on-going need for diapers and wipes in our county. They have asked us to continue to be a distributing partner for the Clackamas County community throughout the upcoming program year.

We are leveraging our Free Food Box events, which we partner with Oregon Food Bank to provide monthly, to distribute these diapers to the most vulnerable families in our community.

We are so grateful to our community partners like Oregon Food Bank and PDX Diaper Bank, as well as our dedicated staff, for coming together to fulfill community needs in these challenging times – continuing to strengthen and demonstrate each day our core values – to serve, connect, and grow.
